Global Conference

Change Management Institute

The Brief

Sydney, London and online

The Change Management Institute’s (CMI) latest conference was a watershed event for the organisation. With an established network of chapters and local events held in six countries, a global conference was a bold next step in their expansion. In addition to the Sydney and London locations, the event streamed online to a global audience.

The Challenge

Designing an ‘unconference’

As well as the logistical challenge of presenting to physical and online audiences, the second day of the conference was a series of workshops on topics dictated by the delegates themselves. The ‘unconference’ approach allowed delegates to participate directly in setting the agenda, with their collaboration and findings captured, published and credited in the conference eBook.

The Solution

Expect the unexpected

Being a global conference with a dominant online component, the website formed the digital heart of the conference, providing up to the minute program information, speaker bios, ticket sales and accommodation. For the two-day event, the site provided the essential live stream of all speakers to the online audience. Following the conference, Wills worked closely with the CMI to compile workshop findings, illustrations and online commentary into a compelling book for all delegates.

This was a challenging and innovative initiative. Wills provided great design and management capability that made this a truly leading edge experience. The end result exceeded everyone’s expectations.
